U.S.-China Tariff Truce Extended for 90 Days

On August 11, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order extending the tariff suspension on Chinese goods for 90 days until November 10. This move secures crucial time for the Christmas export season (covering electronics, apparel, toys, etc.), allowing these goods to be exported at lower tariff rates. Currently, Chinese exports to the U.S. face combined tariffs of 30%, including 10% reciprocal tariffs and 20% fentanyl-related special tariffs.

As per the U.S.-China Stockholm trade talks joint statement, both sides agreed to suspend 24% additional tariffs for 90 days starting August 12 while retaining a 10% base tariff. China's Tariff Commission concurrently announced adjustments to U.S. tariffs, suspending the 24% rate for 90 days while keeping the 10% rate unchanged.
